  • Credit Retail
    The Retail Credit function is central to the Bank’s core activity – the extension of credit. The Bank is in the business of risk taking, and we are the function that manages this credit risk.

    Our responsibilities include managing credit policies, strategies and processes related to credit risk management, for both Personal Financial Services (PFS) and Business Banking (BB) segments. We are independent of the Business and we uphold the integrity of the risk return tradeoffs of the Bank.

    The five core responsibilities of the Retail Credit function:

    • ADVISE on the measures of credit risk in product development, target market setting and positioning
    • CUSTODIAN of bank’s assets with independent control over credit parameters, policies and standards within approved risk appetite
    • ANTICIPATE & INFORM material risks through monitoring & reporting of internal & external factors impacting credit performance of the portfolios
    • MANAGE credit approvals, credit management and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
    • SUPPORT growth of the business through proactive risk-return optimization

    Risk Management develops, implements, maintains, improves and communicates a consistent risk framework for the bank. This encompasses risk policies and procedures, limit structure, delegation of authority, measurement and assumptions, stress testing, and backtesting. The division provides the Board and senior management with independent and timely risk assessment of the overall risk profile. In addition, it facilitates business development within a prudent, consistent and efficient risk management framework that balances risks and returns.
