Group Finance and Corporate Services consists of CFO Office, Group Finance and Property & General Services. Under Group Finance, the key functions are Entity Reporting & Controls, Performance Management, Capital Management, Financial Information Management, and Investor Relations & Research. The sector seeks to perform key roles in the achievement of the corporate goals of UOB Group through forward-looking management and optimization initiatives, and at the same time uphold its financial stewardship role.
- Group Finance
A wide spectrum of core Finance functions, from understanding General Ledger controls, regulatory & statutory reporting requirements and capital optimization, to analyzing business and corporate performance with a view to influence improvements in corporate outcomes. A progressive and forward-looking environment underpinned by deep technical expertise and a strong sense of financial stewardship role.
Global Markets & Investment Management (GMIM)
Global Markets Sector comprises of the Group Markets Sales, Group Assets & Liabilities Management & Market Making, Group Banknotes, Group Bullion, Brokerage & Clearing, Group Asset Management and Overseas Global Markets. These Groups deal in a wide variety of products such as foreign exchange, interest rates, equities, derivatives, bonds, structured products and banknotes. These divisions are supported by the Group Business Management.
- Group Asset Management
UOB Asia Investment Partners Pte Ltd is a specialized subsidiary of UOB that has been established to provide a range of products and services to investors looking to profit from opportunities in Asia through hedge funds and private equity funds.
- Group Business Finance
GMIM - Business Finance provides core financial accounting, compliance & control, and financial performance, analysis and reporting for the business units in Global Markets & Investment Management, Central Treasury Unit and Corporate Investment Unit of the Group. The Business Finance team also provides support in strategic planning, business planning, budgeting and forecasting for these business units.
- Group Global Markets Structuring
Global Markets Structuring is responsible for developing, pricing, structuring as well as the execution of derivative products and structured solutions relating to all asset classes. These treasury products can be customized to suit client requirements, and span across Equity, Fixed Income, Interest Rate, Credit, Currency, and Commodity derivatives. To do so, GMS works closely with internal stakeholders in the marketing, pricing and execution process to build up the client franchise business.
Group Retail comprises Personal Financial Services, Private Banking and Business Banking. The sector aims to provide a comprehensive range of banking products and financial services, tailored to meet the borrowing, wealth management and transaction needs of individual consumers, small and medium enterprises. In addition, the sector’s business focus includes providing a consistent level of sales delivery and high quality service that meet UOB customers’ evolving needs. Within Group Retail, the business segments are supported by several shared services. These include Business Finance, Demand Management, Portfolio & Regulatory Management, Marketing Services and Credit Management.
- Personal Financial Services
Personal Financial Services (PFS) serves individual customers by providing unsecured credit, secured loans, as well as wealth management services, such as deposits, insurance, investment and treasury products. UOB credit cards, which come under PFS, are one of the most popular credit cards in Singapore. In 2008, UOB celebrated 20 years of success in the credit card business in Singapore.
- Business Banking
Business Banking (BB) serves our Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) customers and helps them manage and grow their businesses through our market innovative SME products. These include Deposit and Cash Management products, Trade Financing, Treasury & Investments products and Business Insurance and Credit Cards.
Group Strategy International Management
Group Strategy & International Management (GSIM) supports Group CEO in the areas of corporate and strategic planning. GSIM develops the strategic direction for the UOB Group, and track achievements of the Groupís strategic objectives. GSIMís objectives are also to grow the overseas franchise in a sustainable and integrated manner by leveraging on UOBís holistic client segment offering across Asia, and our second-to-none subsidiary network infrastructure in Southeast Asia. GSIM further strengthens governance of UOBís overseas entities through regular engagement with local regulators and replication of best practices.
Group Technology & Operations
Technology & Operations (T&O) provides centralized technological and operational support for the bank. Technology and Operations comprises of Retail T&O, Wholesale/Treasury T&O, T&O Policy & Operations Assurance, Business Technology Services, Overseas Branch Deployment & Country Management, Shared Infrastructure Services, Information Security & Business Continuity Management, T&O Transformation Office; and T&O finance.
- Business Technology Service
The Business Technology Services unit (BTS) in Singapore is the center of excellence for UOB Technology. BTS provides IT application services for the Bank. We leverage on best practices in business solutions delivery, design and development to meet the Bank’s vision and business objectives. Besides application development and maintenance services for application systems of the Bank, including its regional subsidiaries and branches, we also work in partnership with key stakeholders to plan and manage Application Projects to ensure timely and quality delivery of projects that are within budget, and meeting business requirements. BTS work in conjunction with the various IT teams (i.e. IT infrastructure, operation and security teams) and IT vendors to provide the complete end-to-end business solutions.

Group Wholesale and Global Markets Operations provides centralized operations to support Wholesale Banking and Global Markets Businesses in transaction bookings and settlements of loans, trade, remittances, custody services and Global Markets products.

Along with the run-the-bank operations, there are 2 divisions that look after retail operations readiness and retail operations projects.

Group Wholesale Banking
The Group Wholesale Banking business is dedicated to providing businesses and corporates with solutions to optimize their business operations and cash flow, to manage risk, to enter into or to expand in a market, and to raise capital. The Bank’s deep knowledge of Asia and its extensive integrated network are harnessed to connect customers to regional opportunities.
- Commercial Banking
As one of the Bank’s important client-facing business units, this business focuses on Small and Medium Size Enterprises by delivering a comprehensive range of products and services, which include working capital financing, fixed asset financing, equipment financing, factoring and cash management services. It supports overseas clients from key regional markets with a Global Relationship Management System.
- Corporate Banking Overseas / Singapore
Corporate Banking focuses on the cultivation and management of banking relationships with large private companies, public-listed companies, government-linked companies, statutory boards and government agencies. Leveraging on the Bank’s extensive product suite, the team provides comprehensive, customized solutions to address our clients’ business needs.
- Investment Banking
Group Investment Banking works closely with other business functions and leverage on UOB’s strong presence in the Asia-Pacific region to provide effective financing solutions and creative strategic advisory services for our institutional clients from a wide range of industries. Our Investment Banking expertise includes Corporate Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions.
- Structured Trade and Commodity Finance
Structured Trade and Commodity Finance (“STCF”) provides financing solutions for clientele ranging from producers, national oil companies, international trading companies to niche traders to facilitate international commodity trade flows for Energy, Metals and Agricultural commodities. As a key player in the industry, our team of professionals has the capabilities to provide one-stop financing solution through shipment sales financing, stock and receivables financing, structured pre-export and prepayment financing, as well as tolling arrangement financing.
The Support function comprises Group Compliance, Risk Management and Credit.
- Credit Retail
The Retail Credit function is central to the Bank’s core activity – the extension of credit. The Bank is in the business of risk taking, and we are the function that manages this credit risk.
Our responsibilities include managing credit policies, strategies and processes related to credit risk management, for both Personal Financial Services (PFS) and Business Banking (BB) segments. We are independent of the Business and we uphold the integrity of the risk return tradeoffs of the Bank.
The five core responsibilities of the Retail Credit function:
- ADVISE on the measures of credit risk in product development, target market setting and positioning
- CUSTODIAN of bank’s assets with independent control over credit parameters, policies and standards within approved risk appetite
- ANTICIPATE & INFORM material risks through monitoring & reporting of internal & external factors impacting credit performance of the portfolios
- MANAGE credit approvals, credit management and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- SUPPORT growth of the business through proactive risk-return optimization

- Risk Management
Risk Management develops, implements, maintains, improves and communicates a consistent risk framework for the bank. This encompasses risk policies and procedures, limit structure, delegation of authority, measurement and assumptions, stress testing, and backtesting. The division provides the Board and senior management with independent and timely risk assessment of the overall risk profile. In addition, it facilitates business development within a prudent, consistent and efficient risk management framework that balances risks and returns.
