About the UOB Painting of the Year Competition and Exhibition

Over the past four decades, UOB has been a strong supporter of championing Southeast Asian artists and art.

  • About the UOB Art Collection
    • The UOB Art Collection began as an interest in collecting art pieces and as a way of supporting local artists and the Singapore art community.

Today, the collection has grown to more than 1,700 pieces and some of the pieces from the collection are on display at our branches and corporate offices around the region and at the public art gallery at UOB Plaza in Singapore.

  • About the UOB Painting of the Year Competition
    • The Painting of the Year Competition (POY) was started in 1982 as a way to recognise Asia’s budding artists and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their works to the wider community.

Over the years it has developed into a stepping stone for many artists in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.

The competition has launched the careers of many well-respected artists including Cultural Medallion winners Goh Beng Kwan and the late Chua Ek Kay and Anthony Poon.

    • Each year, award-winning paintings from the Competition are displayed at the UOB POY Exhibition to cultivate a greater awareness and appreciation of art in Singapore.
